Reason is a popular music software program developed by Swedish software developers Propellerhead Software. It emulates a rack of hardware synthesizers, samplers, signal processors, sequencers and mixers. Propellerhead Reason can be used either as a complete virtual music studio, or as a collection of virtual instruments to be played live or used with other sequencing software (for instance Rebirth from Propellerhead).
Reason 6 is the newest version of Propellerhead Reason. With Propellerhead Reason 6 the Rack has changed in an overal look an feel. Reason 6 makes Propellerhead Record obsolete and since Reason 6 the SSL mixer is now a fixed mixer panel inside Propellerhead Reason.
New inside Propellerhead Reason 6 are the effect devices. These effects are called The Echo, Allegator and Pulveriser Demolition. Next to these effects the SSL mixer is now the mixer panel that comes with Reason. Further more the Factory soundbank has been expanded with new sounds. Reason 6 will support 64bit, which means you can run 64bit mode on any operating system that supports 64bit. Plus you can use 64bit rewire hosts. Exporting files has been improved to make colaborations a lot easier.
Features that are new to Reason users, but were implemented in Record, are now available in one full package of Reason 6. These features include: Audio Recording, Neptune (pitch correction), the ID8 midi soundbank (24bit support), the Line 6 plugins and the SSL mixer.
Welcome back to another reason tutorial. In this tutorial we'll be perfoming a few GOA like trance tracks. And personally I am in favor of the old school Astral Projection, so in this case most of the stuff I will be typing about is that specific style. Case and point would be, GOA trance has different angles, and one thing I would want to get of my chest before getting started: this is one type ...

Over the time, when Trance music started to evolve, it contained a few elements in that genre that would usually do a come back. The super saw trance lead would be one of them, one could find those in genres like hard style trance of in the new style trance (new house or dutch house if you will). The same thing is applicable to the so called "plucked", or plucky synth lead. The ...

With having a larger article about the CV Merger & Splitter I can be really short about the Audio Merger & Splitter. Since it works the same way as the CV Merger & Splitter but the audio veriant only reroutes Audio signals (the main output of a device). While in a way the Audio merger splitter was handy with using a Combinator patch to connect all the other devices to eachother by ...

In this reason tutorial I would like to write down some thoughts and guidelines how to get a stereo mix down through the complete process of a synth module, drums, effects and mastering suite for final processing. Eventually I will be using Reason 4 to demonstrate most of the inner workings, however they are also applicable to Reason 5 and Reason 6 in this case. Since all these examples I am ...

In this Propellerhead Reason 6 tutorial we will be covering the most important features of the polyphonic synthesizer: The Reason Subtractor. The term subtractive synthesis is the main idea behind this synthesizer, since the Subtractor uses an an algorithm called Subtractive mode, which you can find in the Phase Mode (-). We we'll be going more in depth about what subtractive synthesis is, what ...

The Redrum drum machine in Reason 6 is the ultimate drum computer for the Propellerhead Reason Rack (next to Kong Drumdesigner of course). As most of the devices that come with Propellerhead Reason, the redrum can be devided into a couple of smaller sections. I will go through those sections in a small introduction part and then I will start going in depth showing a couple of things that you can ...
